What it is
The Borage (Starflower) plant originates from the Mediterranean but is now commonly found growing in gardens in the UK. The seeds from the blue star-shaped flowers contain Gamma Linoleic Acid (GLA), a good omega 6 fatty acid which is the richest natural plant source of GLA, in fact almost twice as much as evening primrose oil.
What it does
The compounds found in borage oil have been used traditionally to help regulate the metabolism & hormone system. It is often used for PMS/PMT & menopause symptoms such hot flushes. It is also know for its anti-inflammatory properties & is thought to help with joint conditions.
